Butterflies: Things That Make My Heart Flutter

Random Bits of Happy

I can’t believe October is almost over.  Time flies when you are learning new things!

My Handsome Man and I

My Handsome Man and I

This month I am especially thankful for Terrell.  My husband makes me hella happy.  He has the right encouraging words when I feel like I’m not getting something, he knows what to say to make me chill out and he offers the best advice on how to fix a situation.  He is my rock, my best friend and my biggest cheerleader and without that this year I don’t know if I would still have my sanity.  Friday is our 10 year wedding anniversary.  Happy Anniversary Sweetness!  I love you more than I sometimes can even express.  Joining hands with you and promising to be your wife is the best thing I have ever done.

My job makes me happy.  While I have had a day or two where training made me question my ability to do this job…with the proper training I feel that I am getting a good grasp of my job duties and am getting the hang of what I should be accomplishing every day.  It’s rewarding to have a job that makes me use my brain a little.  It had been a long time since I had a job that makes me use my noggin.  I go home tired, I want to tune out and veg out.  I know this is a habit I need to break, and I am slowly fixing it.  Coming home and getting a few things done, taking a look at my checklist and THEN tuning out. 🙂

Blue Betty (rama lama oh oh BLUE Betty, rama lama!) hehe

My car is making me all sorts of happy.  My car is officially PAID OFF!  WooHoo!  I need to celebrate the occasion correctly though.  My car to be washed and shined and made to look pretty.  She had some problems last month and it turns out she needed a tune up at 70,000 instead of the recommended 80,000 so with that my little blue Betty (A blue Ford Focus 2 door with hatchback) is running like she’s young again.  So we are down to having just one car payment and it’s a great thing.  I plan on using the money to go to our house fund.  Put away some of the money that would have gone to the payment and pay off bills with a little of it as well.  Ahhh!

Random Bits Of Happy

Oh this week! I cannot even begin to express! The last few weeks, I was at the point of giving up. I was trying to stay positive but having a really hard time doing so. Right at the point of hitting despair I get a phone call for an interview for the next week. That weekend I spent the evening with friends telling me I can do it, I’m smart & talented and I will get it! I put on my best smiley face and can do attitude and interviewed. So last Friday I was elated! I had done what many here in Florida are having a VERY hard time doing….getting a JOB! This week I started on Wednesday and so far it seems wonderful. A small IT company that’s been in business for 8 years. The owner is just this positive, nice man that is genuinely excited about what he does. It’s very refreshing! So here I go….learning what I can to do a great job and be his brilliant Administrative Assistant. It has me excited! (I just had to edit the paragraph and delete my over-use of exclamation points. LOL)

This week I think the number one thing that has me happy is the job. All else could be black and dismal and I would still have a grin from ear to ear.

The office is so nice that this is my view from the BATHROOM!

Bathroom of Wow!

My friends make me really happy! They offer such good advice and positive lifting words when things get tough. I am very thankful for them! Sherry, Jes, Heather, Stephanie, Kelly, Violet, Sarah thank you all!

Me and one of my besties....Sherry!

Butterflies: A Happy Moment

I am still here!  The joblessness in a state that has a 12% unemployment rate has just got me a little down and out.  Trying new things to bring up my mood a bit.  Until then, here is a favorite picture I took this weekend.  My man surfing, I was walking the beach, taking pictures and reading my book club’s current wonderful selection “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” on a blanket under a beach umbrella.  Pretty much a perfect day.  The Vitamin D did my mood wonders!

T catching a wave in!

Oh and just because….a closer look….

I feel better now that I posted SOMETHING!  How are you doing?  I hope you haven’t given up on my blog….I will return full on soon I am sure.  I am feeling better, even if I am still looking for that  j.o.b.

Things That Make My Heart Flutter, the last one of the year!

Random Bits of Happy

*I found sparklers from 4th of July that we didn’t use…quite a bit of them, including a few giant sparklers.  Seems we over bought and lucky for me too!  I love sparklers.  Also champagne was brought over to the house in mass quantities (3 extra bottles) so we don’t have to buy any for tomorrow’s celebrations.  Those are major pluses since money is still tight.

*4 day work weeks!  Really, do I need to say any more than that.  A short work week makes it go by that much faster, and let’s face it, this year one of my goals is to find a real job that isn’t a contract job that gives me no pleasure, no respect, no paid time off, and barely enough money to get by.  Christmas and New Years are holidays for the entire company but contractors do not get paid for the time off.  I have never worked a contract job that didn’t pay me for company wide holidays.  It’s crazy to me, and yet just further proof and fire to get me moving in the direction of finding a better position for me in life!

*There is a special running over at Coilhouse and I was able to get issues 3 & 4 for a discount when bought together.  They showed up the other day and are uber gorgeous!  I am busy reading through issue #3.  It’s wonderful and dark and is as it in fact states on the cover: “A Love Letter to Alternative Culture”.

Quick Mentions:

*listening to Girl Talk, I forgot how much I love that big mash up of everything music.  *Glee!  I am such a Gleek! *Hightide Burrito goodness for last dinner of the year *talking to my girl in Japan on New Years Eve but here it’s not NYE yet…darn 14 hour time difference. *Super special alone time with T *Full Moon on New Years…a Blue Moon at that. *Plus size textured tights from Target. *Finding the perfect New Years outfit. *A sequined jacket that is perfect for all special outing!  *Bubbles! *An AbFab marathon *Warm weather on New Years…it will reach 70 degrees tomorrow!

This has been a very rough year but there has been good dabbled in with the bad and I created this blog to point out the positive and focus on the things in life that I am passionate about.  I think it has been a rewarding blog from my point of view and I hope that you have been enjoying the weekly doses of positivity as well as the posts on books, beats and baubles (my love for fashion & accessories!)  I am loving the new friends I’ve made through my blog and hope 2010 brings many many more!

Happy New Year readers!  I’ll be at a large party full of most of my favorite people.

Where will you be?

Crafty crafty! My new purse!

* I GOT A JOB!!! I start Monday and I couldn’t be happier.  An administrative assistant for the IT department.  Working with geeks….I shall do very well in this position!

*I have been working at improving my crafting skills and sewed the above purse and make up bag out of a pair of old jeans and a tie.  I am a proud little crafter and also proud of my recycling skills.  I also saved my favorite jeans this week after the riveted button fell off (in a strange manner in which my jeans were being ripped off *shock*) and I found some old vintage buttons to replace the closure and also the the back pockets (which one had also come off….cheap rivets or something!) and it made the jeans super cute!  Reuse, Reduce and Recycle in full effect baby!

* I found a perfume that smells exactly like Aveda yummy products.  You can smell wonderful in an essential oil all day long!  Violet in 5 Points has the entire mini line of rollerball essential oils and you can pick your own scent.  Read more about the Tsi-la organics.

* This weekend is the SummerTime in the City annual celebration of Hip Hop!  Go to the site to find out who to see and where to go!  We plan on spending Saturday bouncing from site to site ending up at Shantytown in the end!  I can’t wait!

As a side bit of happy…free music and it’s all Hip Hop to celebrate the above:

Damn It Feels Good To Be a Gangster! a mixtape by LA Leakers & Murs this is a fantastic mix

LEAK AT WILL a chance for Atmosphere to thank their fans. They are amazing, take a listen if you don’t know.

Urban Jacksonville #9 a mixtape collaboration by UJ & Thought &Theory is worth a listen.

There you go, 3 free dope soundtracks to get you through the summer.  Don’t say I never give you anything! Lol!

*The last little bit of happy is just me being so in love with my husband.  He supported me over the 3 months that it has taken me to find a new job.  It is stressful to switch to one income and he handled it with class and love.  He kept my spirit up when it was a little crushed and that is everything and more that was needed.
